Pausing a minute to enjoy the Luminaries at the Winter Garden Theater, childhood memories and morsels of melodrama flash past. So much has changed, yet so much remains the same. While towering palms and a centerpiece of stairs persist, the surrounding culinary / retail options have been refreshed and a new energy permeates.  Swinging by Saks Fifth Avenue this holiday, bystanders admire the remarkable creativity in its color-themed windows--somewhat "adult" themed for 2018. Unexpected breakthroughs potentially power the most rewarding successes. On Tuesday, I attended the viewing of Clavadista, a short film sponsored by Dove and Refinery29 around the "pursuit of pleasure." A twist on the theme "pleasure," Meredith Danluck presents the story of Ava Alvarez, a young femme who develops a secret passion for cliff diving, after years of watching her father and brother. When Alva takes the plunge, she experiences the associated trials and triumphs (won't spoil the end). What passions and pleasures do you pursue? This October, Jason Wu and Julianne Moore partner with Saks to draw attention to cancer affecting women and raise funds to benefit Stand Up to Cancer. With a growing population affected by some form of cancer, awareness continues to be a key driver in accelerating action towards a "cure." Vanity strikes a pose in the windows of Saks Fifth Ave. In Louboutin's lustrous display, a peacock with spines of lipstick poses proudly. Passers-by become the pleasant face of the perched peafowl. Down the way, a Halloween-themed workshop and Louboutin lounge project scenes built around the red-soled shoes. On a mission to pick up a mini-pie from Magnolia Bakery this past Memorial Day, I did a double-take, distracted by the magnitude of flora in the widows of Saks Fifth Avenue. Were they fake? Were they real? Dozens--hundreds of dozens--of roses, orchids, daffodils, grass and topiaries mingle with cutting edge cosmetics in a timely tribute to Mother Nature. Fine Fragrances, beauty products and a consortium of cremes debut in a captivating springtime showcase. Keep reading for a look into #SaksGlamGardens...

Saks features Escada in a digitally reflective display inside its Fifth Avenue windows; Delfinata dress with orchid still life

Art and fashion embark on conjoined adventures, whether art on fashion (Robert Indiana x Lisa Perry) or art as fashion (Viktor & Rolf). Last Fall, Escada and German artist Thilo Westermann collaborate on a seven-piece capsule collection, patterned off his meticulous reverse-glass etching process. The intricate floral comes alive as his 2 dimensional designs are printed and worn as three dimensional garments. This week, Saks displays pieces from the 'Escada meets Thilo Westermann' collection alongside mirrors and digitized screens in a portion of its Fifth Ave. windows. Yeti Story feature in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue, 49th St. at 5th Ave.

Reportedly first sighted in the 50's, an amicable white Yeti was long rumored to live in the high haunches of Saks Fifth Avenue. At the hands of Michael Beirut, the rumors took shape in 2011 when Saks commissioned a plush likeness of the famed fantasy. This holiday season, Saks' winter windows narrate a heartwarming tale of strength and snowflakes, featuring Yattoy the Yeti and his friends and family. [More photos after the jump!]

STYLE SNAPS : THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING!

 Bergdorf Goodman is getting ready to unveil its holiday windows Tuesday, November 19

With Thanksgiving a mere 10 days away, major retailers ramp up for the holidays with seasonal savings, special events and stunning store windows. Among the Fifth Ave. (and off Fifth) favorites, Tiffany's, Lord & Taylor and Henri Bendel are already showing off their seasonal storefronts. Tuesday (11/19), Bloomingdales and Bergdorf Goodman will each reveal their showcases. Wednesday, Barney's will steal the spotlight. Rounding out the pack, Saks Fifth Avenue will present the story of its magical Yeti with a light show on November 25th. Keep reading for a sneak peek of the progress at Bergdorf's!
