Heart "vault" at Kleinfeld Bridal

What transpires from a malady of the heart proliferates the power of "love." Some believe love is borne from luck. Others see it as a state of mind requiring definition and refinement. Where some act on account of love, others act in defense against its resulting emotion. Between episodes of 90 Day Fiancé and the second season of the Netflix series "You", the concept of "love" becomes subject to serious scrutiny. In both tangible and intangible forms, love results in both the highest and lowest points in life. As the new year inches in, remember those you love and take a moment to reflect on the reasons why. Have a Happy New Year and Keep reading to see the windows at Kleinfeld...

Getting crafty in the windows of Moschino, Soho

Donuts dressed in pinked sprinkle paired with coffee, cocoa or a cappuccino could describe breakfast, lunch or or a midday snack. Though my palate has gravitated towards "fresh" and "healthy" lately, science says that snacks possess the power of granting happiness. Hooray for trail mix, fruit and the occasional sack of salty goodness. What's your go-to for a midday snack? This week, don't forget to take a break and grab a bite of something sensational. -WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

Alice & Olivia / Greene St., Soho, NYC

Cultural norms cascade through generations and casually dictate reflex reactions. Sometimes, situations aren't really as dire, outside cultural context. Inclusion has become a sovereign indicator of social shifts. Marriage--for example--now embraces same-sex, interracial or second-time couples. Culinary creativity has popularized fusion in food. As the "Now" is normalizing change; cultural considerations should explore and evolve, no? On that note, enjoy this week's windows at Alice & Olivia, where layering patterns is breaking the conventional sense of "style"...

Doggie themed windows at Kleinfeld

Valentine's is not as much about a day, as it is about being "worth it" every day. While some debate the hype of Hallmark holidays, the value lies in sending a shout to loved ones and taking the time to celebrate each other. No harm in being sassy with a smooch or a smile :). In the season of "love," keep reading to have a look at Kleinfeld's windows....

"Rom-Coms" (Romantic Comedies) typically follow a formula where a couple falls in love, a dramatic plot ensues (complete with conflict, miscommunication and/or unsavory characters) and a timely resolution results in a happily ever after. Add in a cultural component and comedic banter either cajoles or confuses the crowd. When Crazy Rich Asians released, there was a fleeting fear of overdone ethnocentricity and overly Chinese "cheese" factor. Surprisingly, it wasn't bad. In fact--as far as rom-coms go--it even passes as above standard; Hats off to the first Hollywood production with an all-Asian cast since Joy Luck Club (20+ years ago!). This week's windows at Moschino seemed fitting. Relationships are tough! Despite the labels, the judgement, the trials, there's always a final resolution... and an appropriating happiness...

-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

 Moschino, Soho NYC

The endless appeal of Hallmark Hall of Fame movies rides in a formulaic fairytale where individuals meet--happenstance--and fall in love. While the road to redemption is often wrought with drama (as required for storyline), the "happily ever after" never fails to tug at heart strings. Growing up awestruck by the allure of love, happiness, and chance meetings, I always wonder what the cards will bring next. While the road less traveled hasn't been easy, I'm saving hope in 'the future.' Here's to health and happiness in the months ahead...

The past metaphorically alters one's perceived reality, recklessly rewarding risk in a world of popcorn jargon. Choices, choices... mixed amid victories and vices. Beware while appropriating assumption; sometimes "winning" is merely a fleeting moment, bestowed by chance. This week's windows at Alice & Olivia made me smile--a cheeky reminder of the tireless temptations lining shelves at the grocery store. Stay dry and Enjoy!

Screaming Mimi's 240 W 14th St.

Just another day? or Just another excuse to celebrate? Coincidentally, Valentine's Day falls on Ash Wednesday this year. For those who acknowledge either (or both) occasion, annual rituals ensue. Beyond pink hearts and ashen crosses, St. Valentine serves as a martyr for one's predilect "love" of God or Man. Whatever stage you may be, search your soul and savor the symbolism. Stop to Smile, because somewhere along the way, some one once-loved or still loves you :)...

Mulberry, Soho NYC

Off to an action-packed start to 2018, with daily adventures and a successful surgery; 1 week down of an unknown convalescence. As of now, my 'bikini-ready' bod has been replaced with bloat and bruise; mundane tasks have become major milestones. Funny how life intervenes, forcing the issue of healing and self-awareness. 2017 was spent "living Plan B" and to that end, I'm grateful to friends for their endless support and the readers of this blog for keeping me motivated! Cheers to an astounding 2018! In the mean time, have a look at Mulberry's Soho windows, laden with isolated contemplation as the holiday season draws to a close...
