Last look at NYC's Holiday Windows @Bergdorfs

2021 brought a test of resilience --from welcoming a new president, to shocking supply chain shortages, to availability of COVID vaccinations (and boosters!) and a gradual re-opening of the world. We saw a FRIENDS reunion, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle speak with Oprah, #FREEBRITNEY and more... and we cringe as we revert back to: long lines for COVID testing, people dying and closed borders / stores / schools due to Omnicron. Given the positives, the negatives and the unexpected in-betweens, the last couple years whisper that the wise soak up the present and treat each day like a glorious sunset. The Present Moment windows @Bergdorfs echoes this sentiment, featuring vignettes of audaciously happy moments, frozen in time. A little late to posting, but what better way to ring in the new year, than with sequins, sparkle, style... and a little sass? Cheers to 2022! Savoring the sweet, the stale and the surreal, the spirit of celebration is in the air. This week, have a look at the windows at Bergdorf Goodman, Fifth Avenue. First world glamour patronizes ageless glory, as another birthday passes. "Adulthood" brims of unrelenting trials and unthinkable perks; this past weekend marks a milestone in heuristic nirvana. Beyond a credit card clone crisis, a stampede at the Global Citizen Festival and lost belongings, Libra-esque fortune procures an equally balanced fate. I confirmed adulthood with $8,000 worth of designer products (paid only a small fraction of cost), polished off one of every dessert on the menu at LRooM Cafe with 4 besties and seriously considered a $2.7MM NYC apartment. Despite a double decade of drama, life is finally good... mostly. And You? Have a look at Bergdorf's Peru-themed windows and start settling into Fall....

"Seeing Through The Material" windows by Benjamin Shine at Bergdorf Goodman (nice play on words!)

Fashion's formidably elite have found favor in the floating faces of Benjamin Shine. In 2013, Riccardo Tsici collaborated with Shine to create a series of sweatshirts--Madonna and Madonna & Child--for Givenchy's S/S 2013 collection. A collaborative piece--Face Coat--was recently commissioned by John Galliano for Maison Margiela's Artisanal collection this past Paris Fashion Week. Until August 3rd, "Seeing Through the Material"--Shine's latest endeavor is on display in the 5th Ave. windows of Bergdorf Goodman. The magnificient oeuvres d'art require 40 - 50 hours (eyes open = up to 100+ hours!) of handiwork, 20 yards of tulle, many needles, thread and an iron. Keep reading to see all 5...

Slight delay in posting this week--the good news is that I'm in Virginia Beach, away from the office. The bad news is that we're missing Olympics Opening Day celebrations back home. It's a banner year for athleticism with 11,239 participating competitors representing 205 countries. This week's windows at Bergdorfs showcase different animals, each with unique agility, speed and instinct. What would you answer when asked, "which animal do you identify with?"
