Grab onto the beaded banana and let yourself into Susan Alexandra's sunny bead-filled paradise! Doused in yellow and blue tile with peachy pink accent walls, the former tattoo parlor at 33 Orchard street has been transformed into the dream retail reality of brand founder Susan Korn. Designer Lula Galea and architect Levi Shaw-Faber consciously created a truly exceptional space, capitalizing on and perfecting every detail. Opened on October 29th, the store's candy colored presentation and product depict delight at every turn. The mosaic wishing well is a masterful centerpiece, inviting iconic insta-worth moments. "Seeing Through The Material" windows by Benjamin Shine at Bergdorf Goodman (nice play on words!)

Fashion's formidably elite have found favor in the floating faces of Benjamin Shine. In 2013, Riccardo Tsici collaborated with Shine to create a series of sweatshirts--Madonna and Madonna & Child--for Givenchy's S/S 2013 collection. A collaborative piece--Face Coat--was recently commissioned by John Galliano for Maison Margiela's Artisanal collection this past Paris Fashion Week. Until August 3rd, "Seeing Through the Material"--Shine's latest endeavor is on display in the 5th Ave. windows of Bergdorf Goodman. The magnificient oeuvres d'art require 40 - 50 hours (eyes open = up to 100+ hours!) of handiwork, 20 yards of tulle, many needles, thread and an iron. Keep reading to see all 5...

Saks features Escada in a digitally reflective display inside its Fifth Avenue windows; Delfinata dress with orchid still life

Art and fashion embark on conjoined adventures, whether art on fashion (Robert Indiana x Lisa Perry) or art as fashion (Viktor & Rolf). Last Fall, Escada and German artist Thilo Westermann collaborate on a seven-piece capsule collection, patterned off his meticulous reverse-glass etching process. The intricate floral comes alive as his 2 dimensional designs are printed and worn as three dimensional garments. This week, Saks displays pieces from the 'Escada meets Thilo Westermann' collection alongside mirrors and digitized screens in a portion of its Fifth Ave. windows.
