Love, Loss and Longing by BD White at Castle Fitzjohns // Never Be Alone....
Astronauts float alone in isolation, far removed from the good, bad and indifferent that arrive at life's doorstep. Preoccupied with priorities, I've neglected a couple rounds of weekly window postings. This week, I'm opening a window to my world and highlighting an artist who uses experience to become an expert storyteller. Keep reading to see snaps from Love Loss and Longing by BD White--one of the best showings of modern art I've seen in 2017...
A Memories Distant Glimmer (2017) / 86" x 56"
Though a spinal injury and years of rehabilitation leaves BD White wheelchair-bound, his artistic candor from concept to creation remains untamed. Love, Loss and Longing evokes emotion with a universally relatable message, executed in 50-80 layers of technically complex stencil art. In his first solo show, White wins the crowd with a project that challenges his skills and reflects his interest in astronauts and personal experiences with love and loss. If you happen to be in the area, stop by Castle Fitzjohn Gallery to see for yourself. The show opened Sept 7th and runs for 4 weeks.
We Fall Slowly from Grace (2017) / 54" x 30"
50-80 layers of stencil per painting... Amazing!
