Beyond the featured Frozen 2 display, the ladies of Saks Fifth remind audiences that "Greatness is Everywhere." How True! At the most unexpected places and moments--often in the worst situations--minor deeds materialize into major feats. Kindness becomes a catalyst for change. Unexpected breakthroughs potentially power the most rewarding successes. On Tuesday, I attended the viewing of Clavadista, a short film sponsored by Dove and Refinery29 around the "pursuit of pleasure." A twist on the theme "pleasure," Meredith Danluck presents the story of Ava Alvarez, a young femme who develops a secret passion for cliff diving, after years of watching her father and brother. As "fashion" becomes bundled under a brand, creativity is often obfuscated by reputation or expectation. On a mission to pick up a mini-pie from Magnolia Bakery this past Memorial Day, I did a double-take, distracted by the magnitude of flora in the widows of Saks Fifth Avenue. Were they fake? Were they real? Dozens--hundreds of dozens--of roses, orchids, daffodils, grass and topiaries mingle with cutting edge cosmetics in a timely tribute to Mother Nature. THOUGHTS & TECHNIQUE: Q&A WITH THILO WESTERMANN

Millions of meticulously-placed pixels--in pinpoint precision--invigorate the floral forms created by artist Thilo Westermann. For Spring/Summer 2015, Westermann's art is transformed into a collaboration of limited-run wearables for Escada. In an opportunity borne by chance, Escada Fashion Director, Daniel Wingate, happens on Westermann's So What Does Forever Mean? exhibit in Nuremberg, Germany and instantly envisions a partnership with the artist. Where art is applied to fashion, fashion once again becomes artistically transformed in the Escada Meets Thilo Westermann collection. On glass, Westermann's art exemplifies a hyper-realistic rendering of nature, yet on fabric, a woman becomes a part of the magnified beauty on display. Saks features Escada in a digitally reflective display inside its Fifth Avenue windows; Delfinata dress with orchid still life

Art and fashion embark on conjoined adventures, whether art on fashion (Robert Indiana x Lisa Perry) or art as fashion (Viktor & Rolf). Last Fall, Escada and German artist Thilo Westermann collaborate on a seven-piece capsule collection, patterned off his meticulous reverse-glass etching process. The intricate floral comes alive as his 2 dimensional designs are printed and worn as three dimensional garments. This week, Saks displays pieces from the 'Escada meets Thilo Westermann' collection alongside mirrors and digitized screens in a portion of its Fifth Ave. windows. Yeti Story feature in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue, 49th St. at 5th Ave.

Reportedly first sighted in the 50's, an amicable white Yeti was long rumored to live in the high haunches of Saks Fifth Avenue. At the hands of Michael Beirut, the rumors took shape in 2011 when Saks commissioned a plush likeness of the famed fantasy. This holiday season, Saks' winter windows narrate a heartwarming tale of strength and snowflakes, featuring Yattoy the Yeti and his friends and family. [More photos after the jump!]

Storm clouds gather overhead as vital decisions are communicated this week. With a day left of NY Fashion Week 2013, 5 (out of 6) Democratic mayoral candidates lament results from Tuesday's NYC primaries and the American people await the final word on action against Syria. Moreover, many commemorate the tragic loss of life 12 years ago today. Come tomorrow, a new perspective will dawn for some, both in the land of freedom and the City of opportunity. 30 oz soda ban? Disaster Recovery plans? Terrorist Intervention? Where do your loyalties lie?
