Style Snaps : Styled Sustainability

Ekocycle graphics on 5th Avenue

Graphics wrapped around the Coca Cola building on Fifth Avenue purposefully promote products made from recycled bottles and cans. United under the slogan Let's Make More With What We Have, the Coca-Cola Company and recording artist will.i.am collaborated to form Ekocycle, an independent brand focused on "helping consumers recognize that items they consider waste today may be part of a lifestyle product they cause use tomorrow" (Coca-Cola 2011 press release). Since inception in 2011, Ekocycle has partnered with Dr. Dre on headphones, Case-Mate on smartphone cases, New Era on caps and most recently Levi Strauss on jeans (available April 2013). It's always nice to see charitable corporations wading into the fashion world--and trying to do it stylishly and sustainably.

-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

Valentino Temporary Store on Madison Ave. and 65th St.

Stylish spring colors sprout in store windows with the approach of daylight savings time. As winter's moody monochrome and hardened hues melt away, lace and light pastels give life to flirty florals. Valentino's temporary store mannequins sport an uptown look and quickly remind us that seasons--like the store--are just temporary.
