-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

Baz Dazzled; Barney's Holiday Windows by Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin at Barneys, Madison Ave.

With tragic tales transpiring over the last week, Barney's front façade bears a fitting banner, reminding viewers that "A life lived in fear is a life half lived." As unveiled last week, the Great Gatsby's design duo Baz Luhrmann and wife Catherine Martin beautify Barney's New York with energizing extravagance. Add merry melodies and ancillary animation to an arts-inspired theme and marvel with awe at a moving menagerie of metal, sensational sculptures and oversized opulence in the store's windows. Keep reading for a first look at this year's holiday windows....

FASHION IN FILM @ TRIBECA CINEMAS

Fashion in Film presents the Great Gatsby in 3D

Cool costumes multiply the appeal of movies--think Catherine Martin's glitzy gowns in the Great Gatsby (2013), Paco Delgado's tattered elegance in Les Miserables (2012), Collen Atwood's flight of fantasy in Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Alexandra Byrne's Victorian chic aesthetic in Elizabeth (1998). In honor of the feats of fashion in film, DailyCandy collaborates with Tribeca Cinemas to host a 2-day public film event celebrating fashion in Film. Main events include screenings of Valentino: The Last Emperor, Romeo and Juliet, The Great Gatsby in 3-D and Q&A sessions with influencers of fashion in film including style maven Iris Apfel, documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles and costume designer Catherine Martin

Dress Gatsby exhibit at Prada in Soho featuring Catherine Martin + Miuccia Prada's collaborative costumes

Laden with more crystal than a Baccarat chandelier, the mannequins of Prada's Soho store shimmer and sparkle in extravagant style. Earlier this week, Prada kicked off its Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby exhibit with cocktails and celebrities in anticipation of Wednesday evening's movie premiere at Lincoln Center. For 12 days, Prada's Soho store will exhibit the lavish gowns and accent pieces worn in the movie, a collaboration between Miuccia Prada and Catherine Martin, Oscar winning costume designer and wife of Baz Lubrmann--The Great Gatsby's writer, producer and director.
