Grand staircase display at the Peninsula hotel
Sharing a few fun (and free) NYC holiday favorites before they fade. Emerging from pandemic life and entering threenage-parenthood, 2022 has certainly honored its promise of unexpected excitement. Despite weeks-long ailments (RSV, Hand + Foot + Mouth, COVID, Adenovirus, and more) and over 20 vacation days going to the wind, we are blessed to enter 2023 in good health and with some last minute memories. Keep reading to have a look at our festive NYC favorites...
Look Up to see the fantastic hanging display
With a host of holiday trees across NYC, our favorite is the 78-foot pine at the New York Stock Exchange. The minimal crowd, twinkling lights, and colorful ornaments outshine the ever-crowded Rockefeller Center tree. The tree @NYSE is the only one you can walk under! For photo ops, the Peninsula Hotel (55th St.) offers a grand staircase, a kid's (free) candy shop and a variety of insta-worthy spaces. The Peninsula is open on Christmas Day. For an extended photo op, walk a couple blocks to take a peek (and some pics) at the Papillion Restaurant.
More is more when it comes to lights at Hudson Yards' Shine Bright installation. Photos with Santa are free here, if you catch him! On a rainy day, walking through Hudson Yards--with its magical holiday surprises--will surely brighten things up with warm lights and coziness. Macy's Herald Square also offers a free Santa experience. The snaking line to get to Santa includes photo ops a plenty, as well as a look into Santa's workshop, Mrs. Claus and an exquisite train display.

Our favorite tree in NYC is at the NY Stock Exchange!
This is the only Tree in NYC you can walk under--and it has ornaments!
