An Anthropologie Fashion Show!

View from the balcony at Anthropologie's Upper East Side store

Swanky snacks, a bit of bubbly and a stylish show followed by light retail therapy added a much-needed lift to an arduous work week. Thursday night, the lower level of Anthropologie's Upper East side store was fancied up with a flurry of folding chairs and potted plants in anticipation of the evening's main event. Having skipped February's fashion week shows, I was genuinely excited to attend this one!

DELICIOUS macaroons, cake pops and other tasty treats!

Unlike many events hosted in the Big Apple, the atmosphere was refreshingly bright and rather relaxed. Strains of laugher and sincere smiles multiplied as guests filed into the space. Mounds of macaroons, potted cake pops and bubbly bliss complemented a table draped in festive springtime décor. Pale peach, baby blue, ecru and lemon echoed the color scheme of many of the featured ensembles.

Lovely ladies modeling looks from the spring collection

Lovely ladies of all sizes modeled Anthropologie's springtime offerings. Tea dresses, patterned rompers, modern maxis, skinny jeans and Sunday's best paraded up, and then down, the stairs. Stripes, lace and knits flaunted the three main themes--garden party, hues of blue and bold colors--chosen for this spring's style selections. Equally impressive were the accessories and handbag pairings--from slouchy hobos to sequined clutches and structured totes. There's something prestigious, yet comforting about the soft folds, smooth fabrics and deliberate cuts and crops.

Season after season, Anthropologie surprises and delights with a consistently successful selection of apparel paired with its MADE IN KIND specialty collections. This season, pay attention to the cotton basics, taken to the next level with a slight ruffle or juxtaposed hem... and the shoes. Oh the shoes! The evolution of Anthropologie's shoe assortment over the last couple years has certainly been noticeable. This season, laser-cut and mixed media styles stand out. Have a look and let me know what your favorite items are!
