-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

Multi-cultural mannequins at Robin's Jean in Soho NYC

The season of fall fashion and fanfare is upon us. Summer sales have subsided and soon, the catwalks of Lincoln Center, Milk Studios and other happening' hotspots will flourish with NY Fashion Week festivities. Despite my increasingly onerous day job, I'm excited to be attending select shows in the next couple weeks--stay tuned! In the meantime, have a look at the spread of styles in this week's windows--from Robin's Jean in Soho to J.Crew at Rockefeller Center and beyond...

JEFF KOONS: A RETROSPECTIVE @ THE WHITNEY MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART

From "Dutch Couple 2007"... Dutch Couple (2007)

Banal objects propagate "Art" at the hands of Jeff Koons, the renown American contemporary artist from York, Pennsylvania. As the final exhibit in the Whitney Museum's current locale (the Whitney will relocate to the Meatpacking in 2015), Jeff Koons: A Retrospective is exceptionally comprehensive, displaying 150 iconic works by a single artist across the entirety of the Whitney's Marcel Breuer building. The exhibit documents the full span of Koons' work from 1978 to the present in the following categories: Pre-New, The New, Equilibrium, Luxury and Degradation, Statuary, Banality, Made in Heaven, Celebration, Easyfun, Easyfun Ethereal, Popeye, Hulk Elvis, Antiquity and Glazing Ball. A long weekend in the City and a healthy curiosity towards the construction of Koons' larger-than-life artwork presents the perfect opportunity to trek to the Whitney. Here's a glimpse of what's inside…

'A Flight of Fantasy' 2014 Earth Day windows, Anthropologie Rockefeller Center

A weekend away is spent in Seattle and Vancouver, admiring the tulips and cherry blossoms in full bloom this time of year. Following the migration path of the monarch butterflies, my overnight flight lands in NYC bright and early on Earth Day. Though it's now a day past, I feel it fitting to celebrate the marvels of Mother Earth. This year, Anthropologie's window theme 'A Flight of Fantasy' pays tribute to the plight of the Monarch butterfly.

-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

Anthropologie, Rockefeller Center

Hot Air Balloons are the oldest form of flight technology, lifting passengers heavenward since 1780's France. With floating comes an unexplainable freedom and lightness. Harboring news of expected and unexpected passings this week, I find that Anthropologie's Rockefeller Center windows resonate with blissful benevolence. Hope, uplifted in tandem with repurposed paper and carefully curated objects, drifts skyward. As seasons change and time transitions, may those who have moved on from this reality Rest in Peace.

Anthropologie + Foraging = Food for Thought

A big chunk of wheatgrass (left) and tasty soup made from foraged greens (right)

Mugwort, Garlic Mustard, Bergamot and other pesky plants take center stage at Anthropologie, Rockefeller Center Thursday evening as part of the store's Earth Day, Our Way activities. As the audience sips on fennel and sumac mocktails, former lawyer, professional forger and 2013 James Beard Award nominee Tama Matsuoka Wong explains the anthropology behind the art of foraged flavors. What better backdrop than Anthropologie's makeshift kitchen--complete with hand towels and rustic decor--to introduce new benefits from common plants!

Style Snaps: Casual Colors

Cole Haan, Rockefeller Center

Carefully chosen color combinations and circles with a subtle salute to NYC fill the windows at Cole Haan's Rockefeller Center boutique. The colored circles remind me of the bubble sheets used for standardized testing. Which to pick?
