-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

Saks Fifth Avenue's windows showcase the Alexander McQueen SS'14 collection and Studio Jobs' wallpaper

Favorites are hard to come by--whether choosing between friends, foods or fashion brands. This week, Saks Fifth Avenue's windows feature my favorite designer of all time. Though Alexander McQueen's aesthetic is now posthumously orchestrated through Sarah Burton, his footprint on the design world remains markedly appreciated by students and admirers. The patriotic checker graphic and other iconic styles from the Spring/Summer '14 collection are displayed alongside monochrome Studio Jobs wallpaper, highlighting the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) at the Javits Center from May 17th to the 20th.

A TIMELINE OF QUEER COUTURE @ THE MUSEUM AT FIT

All of fashion's influential designers are creative, and some of the most recognized are gay. From John Galliano's ball gowns to Alexander McQueen's runway shows and Jil Sander's minimalistic looks, history is a testament to the span of sensational queer style. With LGBT history month right around the bend, the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology's Friday the 13th debut of A Queer History of Fashion: From the Closet to the Catwalk is a timely tribute to the icons of gay aesthetic.

-WEDNESDAY WINDOWS-

DVF Store, showroom and studio on Washington St. in the Meatpacking District

All is quiet in New York City as the holidays breeze by. The quieter-than-normal streetscape reminds me of college--when the majority of campus vacates to respective homes, leaving a handful of stragglers and international students yearning for the possible extended invitation. DVF's window reminds me of the love rekindled during the holidays--between siblings, among families, towards one-another, in remembrance of the past and on behalf of strangers. Blow a kiss, smooch under the mistletoe and kiss 2012 goodbye!

PICK-A-COLOR \\ AUBERGINE

Abergine Pantone swatch via Amazon.com

A fancy name for eggplant, aubergine is also a rich hue of purple that is commonly associated with strength and power. A darker color in the neutral family, aubergine pairs well with both light and dark colors--in all seasons!
