Provocative pieces in predilect portions strut down Namilia's catwalk Saturday evening. In a jaw dropping presentation of fashion-forward feminism inspired by Denis Diderot's The Indiscreet Jewels, Nan Li and Emilia Pfhol's 5th collection leaves little room for imagination. Tassels and tentacles--sometimes both--join fins and floral in an erotic jigsaw of satin and skin. Ambling to a Disney medley, vulva-fied ensembles and detachable qi paos are accented with matching sky-high shoes and strong gold + fuchsia eye makeup. Sensuality and genital glorification are in strong supply for Spring/Summer 2018. In essence, gramma's quilts and upholstery have been upcycled into a sexually explicit, bad-girl-meets -ocean-creature aesthetic. With an eye on the interpreting contemporary feminism, it will be interesting to see how the Namilia brand progresses.
