My mom some 30 years ago!
July 1978
Some have said "it's not goodbye, it's 'See you later.'" As a believer in God and Heaven (leaving some aspects of religion to be debated), my mom has seemingly been gifted a peaceful exit, absent of pain and suffering. Though the emotional heaviness of sudden loss continues to be borne by those who remain, there is comfort in knowing she is in that "better place."

My eulogy (written in a day!) is here. It's shareable--partly because of the process to complete and mostly, because it was the hardest thing I've presented to date. Context: I was in a car an hour after hearing news of my mother's passing. I stopped at Target in the evening, after arrangements at the funeral home and flower shoppe. Scanning the sale racks for 'funeral garb', I went with the Kukkatori print tunic from the Marimekko for Target collab. Sometimes it's ok to go against the grain :)!

Skiing--who would have thought?!
Mom and dad, 22 years later! (2012)
"A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken may years ago. You seem that as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely"
--Albert Einstein
