#PeaceRocks as civil unrest plagues piecemeal pockets of our planet. Honoring the International Day of Peace (September 22nd), John Varvatos stacks his Soho store windows with signs of spirited serenity. Popping peace signs, Ringo Starr and his photographed friends encourage the public to Snap, Post and Share a selfie with hashtag #peacerocks. John Varvatos' new publication, Rock in Fashion, fills the windows of his Soho store

At first glance, the stacks of red-spined hardcover books and rock 'n roll photographs crowding John Varvatos' Soho store windows silently protest its somber-suited mannequins. Prodding a smile, the black and white photo of Syd Barrett on the ROCK IN FASHION cover draws me into Varvatos' Soho store to pry a peek at his newly released volume. High ceilings and familiar faces (in frames, of course) balance the grungy, yet aptly tailored shirts, suits and shoes scattered throughout Varvatos' spartan Soho store. Where else can Lou Reed, The White Stripes, and Mick Jagger hang amidst mod metro menswear? Who's your favorite rockstar?

My daily commute now includes a tenacious trek through three different parts of town. Along the way, John Varvatos' Soho windows are a welcome sight, marking the mid-way point with their rustic fans and headless mannequins. The leather chairs and muted colors project Varvatos' persona as both designer and admirer of rock 'n roll. Here stands (and sits) the the accomplished professional, the casual working man, the haute hipster and the cultured connoisseur. Which do you prefer?
